About Bairritz
Biarritz is a vibrant and cosmopolitan town on France's
south west coast boasting spectacular beaches and plenty of sun that combine
to make it a fantastic holiday destination.
The resort was made famous by Eugenie de Montijo, the wife of Napoleon III,
and in 1854 Napoleon built a spectacular palace in the town. Today it is the
Hotel du Palais, a spectacular 134-bedroomed hotel that captures the grandeur
of a bygone era.
The area is famous for surfing and many surfing festivals are held up and down
the coastline. In July surfers from all over the world gather for the
annual Biarritz Surf Festival. In addition to surfing, there are numerous
other sporting facilities to enjoy as well as other attractions such as galleries,
museums and the towns shops and restaurants to explore.
